More Westgate Gardens Planters

The Canterbury volunteers have built more river planters in the Stour in Westgate Gardens.

The aim is river bank habitat enhancement on this  Westgate Garden stretch of the Stour which has  extensive wooden revetments.

By installing “flower box style” wooden planters with faggot bases , the hope is for significant improvements for fish and other wildlife. The plants in these planters will provide for bankside vegetation, and so create a more pleasing visual sight than the current hard edged grassy banks fringing the river.
