On Tuesday 19th September, the official launch for Our Stour took place at Godmersham Village Hall , and Estate.

The event started with a presentation discussing how the project had come about and a brief overview of the six schemes which make up ‘Our Stour’. This was then followed by a few films showcasing the beauty of the River Stour, its habitats and wildlife.

After the indoor session the group made the short walk to the riverside and were able to get involved with several activities. There was the chance to go on a short walk to look at a barn owl box which had been newly installed by our fantastic KSCP volunteers that afternoon. A great deal of work has already been carried out by KSCP and our volunteers in the Godmersham Estate, so attendees were also able to join another walk which showcased several of the results of these tasks. Finally there was also the opportunity to get involved with some river dipping to see what creatures were living in the river. The AquaLab vehicle was on site down at the water’s edge meaning that creatures caught could be put under the microscope and viewed on the vehicle’s big screen.
