River Explorers in action

15 children explored the river in Watercress Fields, Ashford by river dipping and then creating their own picture of the river and its surroundings.

Fish were found (although most of them swam away) and small creatures like damselfly nymphs and water-boatmen.

The river is so often unnoticed, yet it is a wonderful wildlife habitat that runs through Ashford – and is at the centre of the Ashford Green Corridor.

The activity was one of two free outdoor activities that KSCP were running for Ashford Borough Council – the second took place on 28th August in Victoria Park . This is all part of the work they are doing to develop their Heritage Lottery Fund bid for Victoria Park. If it is successful, there will be many more activities in the park for all ages and interests.
