Orchard restoration at Boys Hall

A lovely bunch of people from the local community came out to Boys Hall on Saturday 15th February – to help KSCP continue work to restore the orchard.

KSCP / volunteers and Ashford Borough Council’s Aspire team have worked this last year to reveal the orchard. Almost invisible last May, covered in bramble and long vegetation, we can now see approx. 50 trees, mostly apple with some cherry and pear.

Phil Cook, ABC’s Tree Officer started our day off with a workshop on tree identification and then basic pruning techniques. Everyone then got stuck in to get the trees pruned. People adopted trees they worked on – and hopefully will keep an eye on the orchard and the fruits of their labour.

WELL DONE EVERYONE!… identification and then basic pruning techniques. Everyone then got stuck in to get the trees pruned. People adopted trees they worked on – and hopefully will keep and eye on the orchard and the fruits of their labour (ha ha).
