More help for fish at Chartham

KSCP have added a “baffle fish pass” downstream from Chartham Paper Mill on the River Great Stour. This has been funded by the Environment Agency.

The weir is a “crump weir” in profile & has a series of eel tiles added on the right hand side of the weir. A metal retaining wall installed on the opposite side to the bank will help to keep a flow of water over the baffles in the main channel. This will greatly assist the ability of fish to get further upstream.
