Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership

Working hard in the heavy rain and high winds yesterday didn't dampen the spirits of the nine hardy Canterbury volunteers that stuck it out to plant the final stage of hedging for the AONB National Grid project. And we are very thankful, as a 92m stretch was completed opposite the Lord Whisky animal sanctuary tearooms, Stelling Minnis. The prize for the muddiest volunteer has to go to Tanya! 🙂 ... Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership

Ashford volunteers have been out in the woods. At Dering Wood, they worked in the rain to coppice a ride; regenerating the trees and enhancing habitat for dormice. Then at Godinton Estate they opened up a clearing at the edge of woods; to enhance biodiversity both in the wood and in the stream that runs alongside it. Sadly some diseased ashes had to be cut down as they posed a threat to people using the public footpath nearby.
