What to bring

Please bring along a packed lunch and plenty to drink, while tea and drinking water is provided it is advisable to bring your own as well.

Volunteer Forms

Before volunteering with us we ask that you either download (or print off) and fill out our ‘New Volunteer’ form below and return it to us, by email, or on your first day. This is important as it ensures we are aware of any health concerns you may have, and have details such as next of kin.

What to wear

It is advisable to wear strong footwear with a suitable firm sole with good grip. Steel toe capped boots must be worn by those using heavy machinery and strimmers/brushcutters. Work gloves will be provided but feel free to bring your own.

In the summer it is a good idea to bring a sunhat and sunscreen. In winter be sure to wear plenty of warm clothes and remember your waterproofs!

Due to the nature of the work, we will be outside in all weather conditions, It is vital that you take responsibility for dressing in a manner appropriate for the weather conditions.

Health and Safety

There will always be at least one qualified on the work task, this will usually be the project officer leading the task.

Safe and responsible use of tools, and any health and safety aspects related to the work site or task will be emphasised by the project officer at the beginning of the day .

If you have any particular medical conditions, or are on medication, please let the project officer know at an appropriate moment, ongoing medical conditions should be noted on the Volunteer Form.

Volunteers should also ensure that their tetanus immunisation is up to date.

Under 16s

Under 16s are permitted on task if accompanied by a guardian, or are on a school placement, and only then if they do not pose any risk to themselves or other members of the group through irresponsible use of tools.
