  ENGLISH WOODLAND GRANTS SCHEME

The new scheme comes into practice in July 2005. There are 6 grants that landowners can apply for under the new scheme. These six grants are:

bulletWoodland Creation Grant – Supports the creation of properly designed and well located woodlands - Payments are between £1800 and £2000 per hectare with potential extra for public access
bulletWoodland Assessment Grant – Supports the gathering of specific information to improve management decisions – Payments are for 80% of the assessment
bulletWoodland Improvement Grant – The aim is to create and sustain an increase in the quantity and quality of woodlands – Payments amount to 50% of agreed capital.
bulletWoodland Planning Grant – Supports the preparation of management plans that meet UK Woodland Assurance Standard – Payments amount to £10 per ha for the first 100 ha then £5 per hectare. For smallholdings under 30ha a fixed sum of £300 will be paid.
bulletWoodland Regeneration Grant – Supports desirable changes in the delivery of public benefits from woodland at the time of greatest benefit – Payments total between 30%-80% of the cost of the planting dependent on the nature of the planting.
bulletWoodland Management Grant – Supports the basic management activities that underpin woodlands - £30 per ha per annum.
