  WESTWELL

Road verge south-east of Westwell Downs

The KSCP has assisted with the management of this verge, initially with volunteers and then by grant aiding contractors to carry out careful mowing at the end of the summer. The verge is one of 10 in the KSCP area which is designated as a Roadside Nature Reserve by the Kent Wildlife Trust. It contains more than 50 plants, many associated with chalk grassland such as basil, marjoram and nettle leaved bellflower.
