Kentish Stour Countryside Project

Introduction

With supervised teams of volunteers, the Project is able to help to landowners and local communities to carry out conservation projects of all kinds.

In fact we simply couldn't do much of our hands on work without the many voluntary hours local people put in, so we need your help!

What sort of work will you do?

Contrary to popular belief, there’s much more to conservation than tree planting! The work is very varied. You may be involved in creating school nature areas, putting up boxes for barn owls or learning traditional skills such as hedge laying. You will have the chance to meet people and work in some beautiful, secluded spots.

Volunteers

Is conservation volunteering for you? Who gets involved and why?

There are many rewarding aspects to volunteering...

Keeping fit

Acquiring new skills

Meeting new people

Discovering hidden parts of the Stour Valley

Learning more about the countryside and conservation

Helping to make a positive difference for wildlife!

Everyone can come along and lend a hand - no experience is necessary. Ages currently range from students to pensioners. The groups include people between jobs, people looking to develop a career in this field, retired people wanting to stay active, and people who just want to do something for the countryside. Conservation volunteering is a worthwhile and healthy outdoor activity which makes a pleasant change from sitting at a desk!
