ENVIRONMENTAL ARTS

  For You Two

KSCP have been involved in the Stour Valley Arts second year of workshops aimed at people in disadvantaged circumstances. Giving them an opportunity to experience something new and hopefully enjoyable. This year young carers and asylum seekers have had the chance to spend two days in King’s Wood using the medium of art to explore and learn about the forest. This project has been funded by Arts Council England.

  Bombs away!

Work is to start soon on the construction of a B52 bomber aircraft in King’s Wood! This is the subject of the latest sculpture commissioned by Stour Valley Arts and the idea of artist Rosie Leventon. The shape of a B52 bomber will be cut into chestnut coppice and the area cleared to create a woodland glade measuring 112m x 96m. Rosie said "my idea is to subvert its aggressive power into something positive, beneficial and beautiful." A second piece by Rosie is also planned for the forest, which will be reminiscent of a Neolithic burial mound.
