ASHFORD GREEN CORRIDOR

  On the hop and slide

In March volunteers attended an amphibian training course led by the Kent Reptile and Amphibian Group. Subsequently common and marsh frog, common toad, and smooth newt have been found at locations in the Green Corridor. In May it was the turn of reptiles to come under the spotlight or as it turned out from under the ‘mat’. Reptile surveys will take place from June to September. Please contact Rosemary if you would like to join any of the survey groups.

  Wild days

A total of 37 children and parents attended Easter ‘Wild Days’ in the Green Corridor where games were played allowing children to learn about ponds, woodland, and meadows.

  Launch hits local TV news

The Local Nature Reserve was launched on 24th April with the Mayor of Ashford sowing wildflower seeds and 72 cubs and beavers taking part in the activities. The event was on BBC news for Kent and Sussex. Well done to all who made it a success and here’s to further parcels of land being designated with Nature Reserve status in the Green Corridor.
