  Parish Council Steps In

Kingston Parish Council have recently purchased part of the old Elham Valley Railway, which includes a permissive path. To make the area more accessible, they will be building steps on Sunday 21st March with the help of the Kentish Stour Countryside Project. Under the Canterbury Greenspace Project, KSCP can help with resources for community wildlife sites like the railway line at Kingston. Other work being done on the day will include removing sycamore saplings that are beginning to dominate the area.

The line at Kingston has an interesting range of flora and it is hoped that a detailed survey will take place this spring. Other survey work at the site may include small mammals and bats.

If you would like to help with the step building, meet at the Car Park of The Barn in Kingston at 10.15am, or just come along during the day to see the work being done. For more information contact Mary Lovick at the Kentish Stour Countryside Project 01233 813307 or kentishstour@kent.gov.uk
