Down by the River

They might have brought their wellies, but there were a lot of wet feet on Tuesday when local children went river dipping in the Great Stour River at Watercress Fields.  The children, and even the occasional parent, were so enthusiastic to see what kind of fish, or other wee beasties lived in the river, that they stopped paying attention to the water to wellie height ratio - nothing could dampen their spirits!  All the children went on to create their own fabulous fish with the help of artist Nikki Dennington.

This free event was organised by the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership (KSCP), and was the third in a series of children’s activities that are taking place in the Ashford Green Corridor during the summer holidays. Each event is run by a local artist or expert, and is designed so that children have fun learning about the wildlife on their doorstep.

There are a few places available for the Print Fest in Frog Orchard 14th August and Mini-sculpture activity at Bowens Field 20th August. So contact KSCP on 01233 813307 or email kentishstour@kent.gov.uk for more information and to make your booking. You can also visit the Ashford Green Corridor Website on www.ashfordgreencorridor.org.uk to find out more about the events and the Green Corridor.
