Natural Art

There was a lot of buzzing activity down at Queen Mother’s Park on Tuesday.  Guided by Kentish Stour Project Officer - Diane Comley, over twenty children and their parents spent a happy two hours learning about the importance of wildflower meadows and long grasses, including a mini-beast hunt for butterflies, bees, birds and other creatures.  Then inspired by what they found, the children worked with artist Teresa Tanner to create their own insect out of grasses and other natural materials that they found in the park.

This free event was organised by the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership, and was the second in a series of children’s activities that are taking place in the Ashford Green Corridor during the summer holidays. Each event is run by a local artist or expert, and is designed so that children have fun learning about the wildlife on their doorstep.

There are a few places available so contact us on 01233 813307 or email kentishstour@kent.gov.uk for more information and to make your booking. You can also visit the Ashford Green Corridor Website on www.ashfordgreencorridor.org.uk to find out more about the events and the Green Corridor.
