The Blean is just minutes away

A series of 18 new interpretive panels have been installed in locations in and around the Blean, near Canterbury. Situated in pub car parks and other gateway sites, they are designed to raise awareness of the wildlife and history of this, one of England's largest and most distinctive areas of ancient woodland, and encourage people to explore the many publicly accessible woods.

Nature themes covered by the panels include Butterflies of the Blean, The Mighty and Marvellous Oak, and Wild Flowers of the Blean. Others explore the history of specific places and events such as Tyler Hill and the little known Battle of Bossenden.
