Rare and traditional British farm animals are bred in order to preserve them while at the same time providing an interesting tourist attraction and employment opportunity for the disabled some of whom also live at the centre.

The Rare Breeds Centre is registered with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, The South East England Tourist Board and the National Association of Farms for Schools.

In addition to normal opening the Centre hosts school visits, special events and theme days.
