Baker's Wood
This small community woodland, leased by Chartham Parish
Council, was suffering badly from fly tipping and vandalism.
The Project co-ordinated clear ups by contractors (for
large items) and local volunteers. To try to prevent the problem recurring
we installed an interpretive panel, explaining the value of the woodland
for wildlife, and the damage the litter was causing. A leaflet with
similar messages was distributed to surrounding households, and local
volunteers became wardens, reporting fly tipping and other problems
directly to Canterbury City Council.
